Silhouette Display
We have two silhouette displays honoring the victim of domestic violence homicide in 2023.
- In 2023, 42% of homicides were committed in rural areas, and 58% in urban areas.
- The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that roughly 55% of domestic abuse perpetrators were drinking alcohol prior to assault.
- The ages of victims in this report range from 1 year old to 83 years old.
- Perpetrators’ ages ranged from 16 to 81 years old.
- Firearms were the weapons used in 78% of domestic violence deaths.

2nd Annual 5K Color Run
Join us for a fun color run/walk to raise awareness for Domestic Violence Survivors at the 2nd Annual Painting Silence Purple event!
Join us for the Painting Silence Purple Color Run/Walk on Saturday, September 28th, at 9:00 AM in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to kick off Domestic Violence Awareness month! This exciting event will take place and start at Hodag Soccer Club Field, where participants will gather to celebrate and raise awareness for a great cause.
The Painting Silence Purple Color Run is a fun-filled day for people of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you prefer to run or walk, this event welcomes everyone to come together and enjoy the peaceful surroundings while supporting a meaningful cause. The route will take you through 5K (3.1mi) of beautiful Northwoods fall scenery.
Throughout the course, participants will be showered with vibrant purple color powder, creating a magical and colorful atmosphere. As you make your way through the route, feel the excitement and energy of the crowd, and let the purple colors ignite your spirit. Wear as much purple and white as you can!
By participating in the Painting Silence Purple Color Run, you are helping to start the conversation about the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and breaking the silence surrounding it. Together, we can make a difference and show support for those who may be struggling silently.

Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is also dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse. Join us in our events and initiatives to support children and families in need.
This year, we are "shining a light on Child Abuse prevention"
Join us in bringing attention to a significant issue that impacts every community – child abuse! By making a modest donation of $5.00, you will receive a blue light bulb to illuminate both indoor and outdoor spaces. Vilas County Burn Ceremony
The Vilas county healing burn ceremony was held at the Vilas County Fairgrounds on 4/24/2024. Participants were given space to let go of past traumas and embark on or continue their healing journey.
